NOTES FOR THE GUIDANCE OF MEMBERS

GENERAL SAFETY
Greens Staff have priority on the course to carry out routine maintenance daily between 8.00 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. Please respect this priority and do not attempt to play through.
If Greens Staff are carrying out work other than grass cutting, warning notices are placed on the tee of that hole. Please wait until the Greens Staff call you through and then proceed with caution.

Occasionally work on a hole may make it necessary to close the hole. A notice to this effect will be placed on the tee. It may be necessary for maintenance personnel to be present on the course. They will be identified by high visibility clothing. Please take all necessary caution.

Ground conditions can become hazardous during quickly changing weather. Players are advised to take additional care and avoid sloping areas.

Poor visibility and other adverse weather conditions such as lightning - players are reminded of the rules relating to these conditions which are displayed in the clubhouse foyer.

Leaflets highlighting hole by hole safety guidelines and the safe use of golf buggies are available in the Clubhouse and the Professional’s Shop.

BUGGIES
Please be aware that weather conditions can determine the suitability of the course for the use of golf buggies. The Professional will, however, make every effort to ensure, with safety in mind, that individuals who depend on this transport will be accommodated.

Individuals using a buggy must acquaint themselves with the "safe practice" code available at the point of hire.

ALL MEMBERS ARE REMINDED OF THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILIARISING THEMSELVES WITH THESE SAFETY MATTERS

STARTING TIMES
All members will be expected to report to the Professional before starting play, whether in a competition or not. Starting times can be reserved with the Professional for stroke play, match play and general play.

DRESS
Members are reminded that a reasonable standard of dress is required at all times as it is not only a matter of personal preference but shows respect for others. It is your duty to ensure that any guests you may bring to the Club are aware of the requirements both in the Clubhouse and on the course.

As a guide please refer to the Dress Code on the home page.

PRIORITY ON THE COURSE
Unless otherwise determined by the Committee, priority on the course is determined by a group’s pace of play. Any group playing a whole round is entitled to pass a group playing a shorter round.

PACE OF PLAY
Play at a Good Pace and Keep Up
Players should play at a good pace. The Committee may establish pace of play guidelines that all players should follow.

It is a group’s responsibility to keep up with the group in front. If it loses a clear hole and is delaying a group behind, it should invite the group behind to play through, irrespective of the number of players in that group.

SLOW PLAY
This is the cause of most frustration and annoyance to following players.
It is essential that all players:

a) Maintain their place on the course by keeping up with the match in front.
b) Don't have an excessive number of practice swings.
c) Move at a reasonable speed between shots.
d) Leave the clubs and trolley at the side of the green nearest to the next tee in order to move quickly away.
e) Don't mark score cards on or near the greens.

CARE OF THE COURSE
a) Bunkers - Before leaving a bunker, a player should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints made by him/her.
b) Divots, Pitch-marks and Spike damage - Through the green, a player should ensure that any turf cut or displaced by him/her is replaced at once and pressed down, and that any damage to the putting green made by the ball is carefully repaired. Damage to the putting green caused by golf shoe spikes should be repaired on completion of the hole.

GUESTS
Members may introduce guests to the Course on payment of the appropriate green fees. The visitors book kept in the Professional's shop must be correctly entered and signed and green fee paid by the member BEFORE commencement of play. Only one guest can be signed in at any time and must play with the introducing member.

BAR/RESTAURANT
No intoxicating liquor will be sold to a person under the age of 18 years. Opening hours are at such times as the General Committee shall decide. Details are displayed on the Club Notice Board.

CHILDREN
For Safety reasons children, unless playing members, are not allowed on to the course or permitted to use the putting green or practice area of the course.

NOTICES
No notice paper or poster written or printed shall be displayed in or about the Club's premises without the permission of the Club Manager.

DOGS
Under no circumstances shall dogs be allowed in the clubhouse or on the course.

COMPLAINTS
No member shall admonish or reprimand any servant of the Club. Complaints about anyone or anything to do with the Club should be made to the Club Manager or in his absence to any officer or member of the General Committee who may require such complaint to be in writing.
